You may have seen him on The Doctors or Dr. Phil, but tonight he’s coming to Breaking Through with Georgiann!
Unlike many diet programs that starve you down to size, Dr. Mike Moreno’s 17 Day Diet relies on proven methods to help you take the weight off and keep it off. His revolutionary program adjusts your body metabolically so that you burn fat, day in and day out. Each 17 day Cycle “Accelerate, Activate, Achieve and Arrive” changes your calorie count and the foods you eat. This variation that Dr. Mike coined as “body confusion” keeps your metabolism guessing, and you can expect to lose up to 10 to 12 pounds in the first 17 days! As an added bonus, the 17 Day Diet includes sample meal plans and a recipe section filled with tasty, easy and healthy food options. Whether you need to lose those last 10 pounds or drop 10 dress sizes, the 17 Day Diet is the perfect jump-start to a healthier, thinner you!
Dr. Michael Rafael Moreno, better known as “Dr. Mike,” is a graduate of the University of California at Irvine and Hahnemann Medical School (now Drexel University). Following his residency at Kaiser Permanente in Fontana, California, Dr. Mike moved to San Diego, where he now practices family medicine and sits on the board of the San Diego Chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Hi, I write a blog on the 17 Day Diet and was also a participant on the Dr.s show and I live in San Diego, CA. I have a couple of questions: Sugar Free candy? He says no artificial sweeteners but then he “ok’d” diet Jello – so artificial ok or not and if so how much? Cornstarch- allowed Cycle 1? Green Tea, constipating? Does it deplete iron and should a supplement be taken? Agave is okay in Cycle 1 – how much is okay? Why not other kinds of fish in Cycle 1? Why no radishes in Cycle 1? Why only certain specific veggies..what about other low cal, low sugar veggies – BIG QUESTION. HOW MUCH CHEESE IS ALLOWED> I tell people that cheese is a condiment and should be used sparingly, a tbls here and there, but then I see recipes on his site with CHEESE EVERYWHERE! Covering cassoroles. I’m trying to declare a No Cheese Zone but it’s not easy as people are very attached to their cheese. I also tell people when making the cauliflower pizza for instance, only 1/4 cup per person and that includes the crust and topping…that’s the MAX..is this too much? Those are the ones I get asked the most! I’ve sold quite a few books through my site – I was a personal trainer in Malibu I strongly believe in this plan and last month alone people on my site lost OVER 3,500 lbs

Beets, are they allowed in Cycle 1? I’m shocked at how many beet lovers there are!

  3. Barb GerberNo Gravatar Says:

I am having a problem finding breakstone cottage cheese. Any other substution for that particular one?

  4. Tammie WardNo Gravatar Says:

Can you eat buffalo and deer on the diet and in what cycle? I know buffalo is leaner than turkey.

  5. Terri SinclairNo Gravatar Says:

Tammie, it would be Cycle 2 we were told when I did the show. Someone else asked.

I have another…no lite mayo until Cycle 3 BUT, his is yet another questionable rule in the book since Mayo “is” basically egg and oil, made into an emulsion. Egg and olive oil, both allowed in every cycle, so…. ? Why wouldn’t a Tbls of lite mayo made with Olive Oil be allowed in Cycles 1 and 2?

  6. Tracey TarrantNo Gravatar Says:

I’m a newly converted vegan and am concerned about protein. Since I don’t eat meat or eggs, I’m not sure what are good substitutes for that. I am not a bean lover, but know it’s a good source of protein. What about tofu?

  7. Terri SinclairNo Gravatar Says:

I have had several people mention this to me in the past week, exact same symptoms. I’m thinking it’s possibly power of suggestion since in all my years as a personal trainer I’ve never heard this from weight LOSS, only gain: “The last week or so I have been experiencing aches and pains in my lower back and hips. Similar to the kind I had when I was pregnant(no i’m not pregnant lol) I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing similar problems. I thought maybe it’s weight shifting???…heck I don’t know, but it’s not very pleasant!”

Is there ANY reason this would be caused by the diet?

Also, PLEASE tell Dr. Mike: I have a member of my site, a male, who has lost 50 pounds in 75 days. The most amazing part is he and his wife cook up incredible meals almost everynight and have shared the recipes with all of my 4,500+ site members. SO, gourmet food and HUGE weight loss! Just wanted to let Dr. Mike know about this…It’s an inspiring story and the food we’ve been eating from their “test kitchen”, recipes I then edit and approve to make sure they match the diet specifically, have been amazing…

  8. Terri SinclairNo Gravatar Says:

Also if you can’t find the Breakstone cottage cheese are there alternatives? Could you eat “regular” cottage cheese and take a probiotic capsule? And if so then why couldn’t you drink milk and take a probiotic capsule?

PS these are all questions I’m getting from my 4,500 + site members…

  9. JenNo Gravatar Says:

    Hi there,
I’d love to hear from Dr. Mike about how this diet works with folks diagnosed with hypothyroidism/Hashimoto’s. I was diagnosed in 2005 and have had my meds increased steadily. So far I have lost 10 pounds, hoping for 20 more. Any insight or thoughts from the doctor would be great.

  10. Terri SinclairNo Gravatar Says:

Tracy, yes, those things are find..there is a Vegetarian section in the book. Information on what vegetarians can have is on my site. I hope that helps you. I’m really hoping in this interview Dr. Mikes answers questions that are NOT addressed in the book…..none of my questions above are addressed anywhere in the book.

Also there have been questions from people with PCOS..is the diet appropriate for them?

  11. Terri SinclairNo Gravatar Says:

Loved the interview..thanks so much for mentioning me! We are doing some giveways soon on the site and I’m sure that will bring even MORE attention to the 17 Day Diet! I used to be a personal trainer and I HIGHLY support and recommend this eating plan to anyone on the fence and considering it! You can read a quick Overview on my site and take it from there. Ask any questions and between the great eating plan (hate to call it “diet”) and the support, that weight can be gone for good!

Thanks Georgiann..will look forward to listening to more shows!
