In this productivity-savvy age, it seems like everyone knows several ways to make to-do lists, organize their e-mail inboxes, hold shorter meetings, and so on.  However, despite all the organization and time management techniques out there, it appears many people still aren’t meeting their productivity goals.

It seems clear that we’re most efficient, and produce our best work, when our work has our full Attention. If our awareness keeps drifting away from what we’re doing, we’re unlikely to be at our most productive, no matter how well-organized our workspace is.

Chris Edgar is an author, speaker and personal coach who focuses on helping people follow their true callings in their careers, and find more enjoyment and efficiency in what they do. Once a Stanford-trained corporate lawyer, Chris left the legal profession to share his mindful approach to career satisfaction and productivity with the world. His articles have appeared in Balance, Balanced Living, EdgeLife, LivingNow, Mystic Pop, New Age Journal, New Renaissance, Self-Improvement, WellBeing and Wisdom.

In this episode of Breaking Through, Chris joins us to discuss inner-productivity and give us some great tools and tips for overcoming procrastination and creating more focus in our lives and work.

Personal growth and spiritual transformation books are usually pretty dry and serious-minded. But it doesn’t always have to be. Ya need to throw a little fun and humor into the mix!
“I was born at a very early age to a couple of surprised and disappointed parents who had thought it was just gas. My parents moved a lot when I was growing up, but I usually managed to find them by dinnertime…”

So says this weeks guest, Dr. Tomás Lafayette Picard, in shedding light on the origins of his unique—and definitely askew—perspective of life.

Dr. Picard has focused his life’s energy on learning and sharing with others what he has learned. (A noted astrologer once pointed out that Tomás just wasn’t cut out to keep “Secret Knowledge” secret.) He uses humor and relevant examples to outline clear and simple reasons why ‘it’ isn’t working, and how to align yourSelf with the intelligent forces of the Universe.

Be sure an stop by Tomas’ website

A word of warning…don’t listen to this show unless you are prepared to laugh!

Just Listen!

Need to get through to someone today? Try listening

How many conversations today will you try to get through to: customers, clients, employees, colleagues, bosses, directors, managers, vendors not to mention spouses, children, parents, friends and of course yourself?

Probably a more appropriate question would be, how many conversations will you have today where you are not trying to get through to someone? The answer. Probably few.

And after you get through, what next? How often do they change what they’re doing in a positive direction for both them and you?  What would be the effect on your and their productivity if they did?
The secret to this is not what you tell people.  It’s what you enable them to tell you that is critically important to them, that you listen to and care about, and then help them with.

Mark Goulston, M.D. is a business advisor, consultant, trainer and coach trained as a clinical psychiatrist who honed his skills as an FBI/police hostage negotiation trainer who increases people’s ability to get through to anyone.  He is the author of the recently published and Amazon.com best selling book, “Just Listen” Discover the Secret to Getting Through to Absolutely Anyone (AMACOM, $24.95). For more info you can visit Mark’s website here.

Tune in next week and learn more about the art of listening with Georgiann and Mark!

Have you ever been at a point in your life when you just didn’t think you could take it anymore, when you’re ready to give up or give in, or when you just don’t have the strength to deal with the challenges?

As Lynne Klippel sat in the sun on her front porch in March 2009, she wished she had a book to send to her brother to read during his chemotherapy treatments – something to remind him that he was not alone and to encourage him to fight for his life. It was a heart-wrenching time when three members of her immediate family all had cancer at the same time, along with a dear friend. Furthermore, she says, “It seemed like everywhere I looked, I saw tragedy. Other friends were losing jobs and fearful about the prospects of finding new work. The evening news was full of financial scandals, plant closings, kidnappings, and war. I wanted a book that could also give them hope, inspiration, and encouragement on every page!”

Klippel gathered the first person accounts of 38 people who faced tremendous personal tribulations, and then turned them into triumphs–thanks to their persistence, strength and faith. The result was the remarkable Overcomers, Inc, True Stories of Hope, Courage and Inspiration. This Amazon.com #1 bestseller features the extraordinary first-person accounts of 38 inspirational people who relate their empowering stories of triumph-over-adversity, providing a roadmap to others on how to navigate from the darkness to peace, abundance, success and light.

Join Georgiann and Lynne as they discuss life’s tragedies and personal triumphs.  Click here to learn more about Overcomers, Inc.
